Understanding present and future wildfire risks

GIA Map is betting it has a successful future helping carriers and others understand present and future risk of wildfires and other hazards.

Launched in 2017 in California, the tech startup is an underwriting hazard system for both underwriting and claims. It helps auto, home and commercial property insurers measure and manage exposure using geospatial intelligence.

“We work with companies to protect them from hazards such as wildfire, tornado, hail and so forth,” said GIA Map CEO and co-founder David Jowell (pictured). “We include their book of business, so we actively have not only future risk in mind, but current risks as well for active events and also future projections.”
